How we work
Easy Guides publishes plain-English guides to the forms and paychecks that decide how much tax you pay, each one paired with a tool that does the arithmetic.
Who we are
Easy Guides is an independent publisher, founded in 2025. We run 12 sites across 5 subject areas: payroll and paycheck forms, business and self-employment tax, student aid, and benefits. Every site is ours; none is a partner brand or a white label.
How a guide gets written
Every figure comes from the primary source, which for us means the IRS revenue procedure, the SSA announcement, USCIS guidance, or the state agency that actually sets the number. We do not take figures from other tax sites, because that is how a wrong number spreads.
Every calculator on every site runs against an acceptance test suite with hand-derived expected values, and those tests run the JavaScript the page actually ships rather than a copy of it. A calculator that cannot be tested does not go live. This is not a promise about care; it is a gate that refuses to build.
Federal tax figures live in one file that every site reads from. When a rate changes, it changes in one place, and a check fails if any site disagrees with it.
When we get it wrong
We do. In August 2026 one of our calculators computed 2025 tax on a page that said 2026, understating self-employment tax by about $1,042 at higher incomes. It was found by a check we had just built, corrected the same day, and the check now runs against every calculator we publish.
If you find a number that looks wrong, tell us and we will either fix it or explain why it is right. Corrections go to the page itself, not to a changelog nobody reads.
How we make money
Advertising, through Google AdSense, which runs on every page. Some guides also link to services we think are worth using, and a few of those links pay us if you sign up: LLC formation services on LLC Easy Guide are the main case today. We say so on the page where it happens.
What we do not do: sell your data, run sponsored guides, or let an advertiser influence what a guide says. Since we started in 2025 we have published zero sponsored guides and zero paid placements, no advertiser has seen a guide before it published, and none has asked to.
What we are not
We are not a law firm, a CPA firm, a registered agent, or a tax preparer, and we are not affiliated with the IRS, the SSA, USCIS, or any state agency. Our guides are general educational information. Your situation can differ from the general case in ways that change the answer, and when the stakes are high a professional who can see your whole return is worth the fee.
Easy Guides is an independent publisher of educational content. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or any other government agency. What you read here is general educational content, not legal, tax, or financial advice. For advice specific to your situation, consult a qualified professional. Official government resources are available at no cost at IRS.gov, StudentAid.gov, and USCIS.gov.
